Collaboration is key to Africa realising its potential in the twenty-first century. It was with this in mind that in February 2020, THE SVAI launched the Kenya Working Group, a small group of private sector organisations identified as outstanding examples of purpose-led business strategy implementation and important stakeholders in the region.

The aim of the SVAI Working Groups, a network of regional working groups currently being formed, is to identify key challenges specific to the region and work together to create potential business solutions to these challenges, ideally using the tenets of Shared Value. An SVAI representative plays a guiding role, allowing the participants to drive both the agenda and implementation of Working Group initiatives in the region.

The Kenya Working Group is made up of representatives from Absa, East Africa Breweries, Kenya Airways, Strathmore University Business School, GIZ, GSMA, Old Mutual, KCB Group, Nation Media Group, Facebook. These members are collaborating through various working groups, based on organisational strategy, with the main focus being to collaborate in support of national government’s vision to address the effects of climate change. In supporting this mission, members are looking at resources currently in place within their respective organisations and those in planning stages for future implementation.
