African Universities Gender Equality Forum | 28 August

      Array ( )
      Online event

Theme: Tech, Power & Silence: Addressing Technology-Facilitated Abuse
Date: Thursday, 28 August 2025 | Platform: Virtual

This Women’s Month, we focus the conversation on technology-facilitated abuse—an urgent and often invisible threat facing African students, especially young women and gender-diverse individuals.

      What to expect:

      • How technology is being misused to target, silence, and control students.
      • The mental health, academic, and safety impacts of online abuse.
      • What students, institutions, and policymakers can do to respond and protect.

      Objectives:

      1. Create a safe space for African university students to share experiences with technology-facilitated abuse.
      2. Raise awareness about the forms, impact, and prevalence of TFGBV on campuses.
      3. Strengthen student-led advocacy by equipping young leaders with knowledge and peer-driven strategies.
      4. Influence institutional and policy response through cross-border engagement and collective recommendations.

By placing student voices at the centre, we aim to surface lived realities and crowdsource ideas for action from across the continent.
