Babongile joined Absa Group in December 2019, in the role of Strategic Initiatives and Engagements Manager and is responsible for developing partnerships that focuses on small enterprise development, creating shared value, sustainability and financial inclusion. Before joining Absa, Babongile worked as a Trade negotiator for the South African Sugar Industry, across its African and European markets. 

A Stellenbosch University graduate, Babongile is an international development specialist who holds a Master in Global Political Economy and an undergraduate degree majoring in Sociology, Politics and Public Administration from the University of Cape Town.

Babongile has over 9 years working across, academia, civil society, international development through the diplomatic corp and the private sector. Having worked across all social spheres, Babongile bring a well rounded approach to the shared value school of thought.
