As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on a journey that has been both challenging and rewarding. This year brought its share of hardships—not just for me, but for many of us. The weight of uncertainty, the obstacles we faced, and the demands of navigating an ever-changing world were deeply felt. Yet, amidst these challenges, there were incredible moments that reaffirmed why we do what we do.

This year underscored the transformative power of collaboration in driving meaningful change. From opening our Nigeria office to hosting the summit in Kenya, signing the Entrepreneurship Alliance in Brussels, and launching the Shared Value Africa Gender Equality Unit on March 8th—each milestone marked a significant step forward in our journey. These achievements were a testament to resilience, shared purpose, and the belief that together, we can create a more equitable society.

We continued to provide platforms for engagement, participated in global and continental conversations as thought leaders, and empower entrepreneurs through training and mentorship. Through our ongoing partnership with IFC, we advanced critical conversations with the Respect@Work training, championed women’s empowerment, and advocated for the acceleration of gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence.

This year was also about forging connections and amplifying impact. Through our Shared Value advocacy efforts, we created spaces for meaningful dialogue, fostered collaboration, and reinforced the message that profit with purpose is not merely an aspiration but a critical pathway toward ensuring the long-term sustainability of our continent.

Looking back, this year reminded me of the strength of our community—the individuals and organisations that believe in our vision and work tirelessly to create a better future for Africa. It is because of your unwavering support and shared commitment that we can celebrate these successes, both big and small. To our members, partners, supporters, and broader community: thank you. Your dedication continues to fuel our mission to create value for all.

As we look ahead, let us carry forward the lessons of this year. Let us honor the challenges we have overcome and the milestones that brought us closer to our purpose. And let us move forward, guided by a higher power and strengthened by the belief that together, we have the power to shape a brighter tomorrow for all, and create the Africa we want.
